Overview of the Permanent Vertical Ring High Gradient Magnetic Separator
The Permanent Vertical Ring High Gradient Magnetic Separator is an advanced magnetic separation device designed for the efficient extraction of weakly magnetic minerals from wet materials. This equipment is particularly effective for sorting minerals such as iron oxide ore, hematite, siderite iron ore, and manganese carbonate ore, as well as for purifying non-metallic minerals like quartz and feldspar powder.
Operational Principle
At the core of the separator's functionality is its magnetic box, which contains magnetic stainless steel rods. The selection of rod thickness depends on the particle size of the ore and the desired sorting criteria. During operation, the vertical ring rotates in a calibrated manner. The slurry is introduced into the mining area at the base of the vertical ring through a feeding tank, allowing it to flow downward through the magnetic medium.
While in the magnetic field, the medium becomes magnetized, creating a high gradient magnetic field that exerts a strong magnetic force. This force attracts magnetic ore particles, causing them to adhere to the surface of the magnetic medium. As the vertical ring rotates, these particles are lifted into a non-magnetic field area, where they are washed into the concentrate tank using water. Conversely, gangue and weakly magnetic particles are not affected by the magnetic force and flow out through the tailings trough, completing the sorting process.
Pulsation Mechanism
This separator features a pulsation device that enhances the sorting process. During operation, the magnetic medium at the bottom of the vertical ring remains submerged in the slurry. The pulsating device, driven by a box, creates a reciprocating motion that agitates the slurry in the tailings tank. This pulsation keeps the ore particles loose, significantly reducing the chance of non-magnetic ore particles being mechanically included in the magnetic concentrate. Additionally, the pulsating action helps prevent blockages in the magnetic medium, ensuring smooth operation.
Structural Design
The separator consists of several key components: a pulsating mechanism, a rotating ring drive, a feeding tank, a rotating ring, a frame, and a magnetic system. It utilizes a permanent magnetic system, currently employing high-grade rare earth magnets, which provide a magnetic induction intensity ranging from 0.3 to 0.6 Tesla. The magnetic medium comprises magnetic conductive stainless steel rods, and the design emphasizes energy efficiency, consuming less than 20% of the power used by similar electromagnetic separators.
Operational Efficiency
The vertical ring separator operates with a positive ore feeding and reverse flushing concentrate mechanism, accompanied by a slurry pulsating system. This configuration results in a high enrichment ratio, effective sorting capabilities, and reduced likelihood of medium blockage. The equipment is adaptable to fluctuations in mineral amounts and concentrations during production, ensuring safe, reliable operation with straightforward maintenance requirements.

In summary, the Permanent Vertical Ring High Gradient Magnetic Separator is a highly efficient and energy-saving solution for the separation of weakly magnetic minerals from various materials, offering reliable performance and ease of maintenance.
